Gifted, quirky, intense, 2E, asynchronous, bright, creative, sensitive.
Gifted people are different than neurotypical people. Not better, or worse. Just different.
To be gifted is to experience life with an intensity. Intensity of thought, curiosity, creativity, inspiration, emotion, and sensation.
Giftedness isn’t sought, it just shows up, often quite uninvited. Like Gandalf knocking on Bilbo’s door in the shire.
For many people, giftedness feels more like a burden than a gift. The process of discovering the gift in giftedness can be overwhelming without support from someone who can handle the intensity of their experience and can keep up with their unique rhythm and pacing.
"The cave you fear to enter holds the treasure you seek."
- Joseph Campbell
